Dr. Lloyd's specialty is software engineering, in which he holds a Ph.D. from the College of William & Mary.  The lecture topic is "Computing in the 21st century: What can we expect from information technology? How will it affect our lives?"

Joey Hannaford - Graphic Design

Professor Hannaford's specialty within the discipline of Graphic Design is Typography, Calligraphy, History of Graphic Design, and Printing Technology.  She holds a B.F.A. in Graphic Design & an M.F.A. in Printmaking with a concentration in Papermaking and Book Arts from University of Georgia.  The lecture topic is "Partnering Traditional Printers Craft with Computer Technology in University-Level Graphic Design Education," Professor Hannaford's new approach to teaching typography using an extreme return to the basics and instruction in the traditional craft of letterpress printing (essentially unchanged since Gutenberg invented printing in the 15th century).

Gary Schmidt & Muriel Cormican - German Cinema

 

Dr. Schmidt has published articles on German and Austrian literature and film of the early twentieth century, the postwar era, and the contemporary period, as well as two books on the representation of male homosexuality in novels of postwar West Germany.  He holds a Ph.D. in German Literature from Washington University in St. Louis.  Dr. Cormican specializes in 20th Century German Literature and Film, and holds a Ph.D. from Indiana University, Bloomington.  The lecture topic is "Becoming a Man in East Germany: Nostalgia and Masculinity on the Silver Screen," looking at “Ostalgia” (nostalgia for the former East Germany) in recent German Cinema, particularly in films that have been very popular in the United States about young men, often examining the crises of identity they face in a new capitalist world that emphasizes the negative aspects of their lost communist past/childhood.

Curtis Hollabaugh - Aquatic Geology
Dr. Hollabaugh is a Geologist specializing in Geochemistry, Mineralogy, and Environmental Geochemistry, as well as the water quality and quantity of north Georgia.  The lecture topic is: "Eastern Water Wars with Georgia versus Florida and Alabama: Environmental versus Political Solutions."
